As the top says, we like to sail, travel and eat. Most of this blog is written with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. Beware that I might get a bit salty with the language at times, but it's all in good fun.
And despite what you may read, we are a very happily married couple.because we can laugh at ourselves.
Laugh. Love. Eat. Sail. Enjoy.

Old Sacramento

Our second day in Sacramento we went to Old Sacramento after work for some drinks and dinner.

In the 70s it had become sort of a Skid Row of Sacramento, they have done a lot to reclaim it and make it a historical area.

When I drive home to my parents house in North Central Kansas, I always go through Marysville, KS. A way station for the Pony Express.  I have visited the Marysville location a couple of times.  So it was cool to see the end of the line, so to speak.  The statue below is a dedication to the riders, it is facing the former station terminus as if the rider is coming in.

The terminus of the Pony Express, now it is a Wells Fargo museum.

The Old Sac area goes up the river with nice parks and walking trails.  There is also vintage train cars and a train museum that we didn't get to visit.

The mark on the piling was the water level during the 1997 flood.

The ultra cool, historic Tower Bridge.  The middle sections goes straight up
so that boat traffic can get through.

The Delta King.  Historic steamship now converted into a hotel with bar and restaurant.
Stationary, it doesn't move.  The bar was in the front top section.
